Quilted Yo-Yos Resource Page

Have you ever seen quilted yo-yos and thought they were cute, but had no clue what you would do with them? Or maybe you saw a bunch sewn together into a sort of hole-y quilt and didn't think you had a use for one?

I'm here to show you not just how to make a perfectly pleated little yo-yo in 5 sizes, but also what the heck to do with them!

The perfect hand sewing project to take on-the-go, you'll be whipping up yo-yos in the car rider line, the bleachers, and the passenger seat, turning those free moments into bags and bags of yo-yos.

But then what the heck do you do with all of them?! From Christmas garlands to flower bouquets and from jewelry to games, the quilted yo-yo will become your new sewing obsession.

Everything you need to know to make perfect yo-yos and turn them into treasures is below!

Supplies

First things first, you're going to need a few things.

Clover Quick Yo-Yo Makers come in 5 sizes: Extra Small, Small, Large, Extra Large, and Jumbo. You might grab one of each or choose a size based on your project needs.

Thread. I like Gutermann sew-all, but any hand-sewing quality thread will do.

Needle. I like Clover Gold-Eye Embroider size 3-9.

Thread Gloss. This will help your thread pull the gathers smoothly and keep you from getting twists and knots.

Scissors. Any snip will do, but I like to keep a small pair handy.

Fabric! Quilting cotton is great, and thinner fabrics like lawn are good, too. Do not use fabrics heavier than quilting weight. Very light wovens are acceptable, but can be finicky. Scraps will do just fine, but pre-cuts work for several sizes.
